Marketing in the News Sneakers
I came across this article which caught my attention becasue I am a sneakers guy who buys shoes. I notice that a famous rapper, Lil Nas X's is collapsing with MSCHF, which makes renowned art. I want to look at the new shoes they are collaborating with, called "Satan Shoes." People on Twitter were skeptical they were releasing a satan shoe for the public. People tweeted out that it's cruel to make a satanic shoe because of people's religion other reasons. Also making it satanic shoe, which is the first time in sneaker history not only that but in the bottom of the shoe filled with red which contains a drop real human blood!😟
Lil Nas X's value proposition made a music video called "Montero." Once he released the music video called Montero, he announced he would be releasing the satan shoes. You also notice how he advised the song to promote the new shoe and make them limited.
The majority of people have been very bias at Lil Nas X's. The design of the shoe is based on satan. But some people love the shoe design and a new idea in the sneaker community.
Lil Nas X's promoted the music video Montero, which relates to marketing because he has a huge fan base and using it will make social media go crazy. It works because once he released satan's shoe, it sold out with in-seconds. Not only that, but the retail price to buy them is $1,018! That's a crazy amount of money for a bit of pair of shoes. Not to mention there are only 666 made. Overall Making the music video featuring the shoes was successful because that led to people on Twitter or any social media platform exploding, and everyone was talking about it. The main challenge is that Nike has sued Lil Nas X and MSCHF because they used their logo without permission, and they filed a lawsuit against them.
When I scrolled around Twitter, I noticed that Lil Nas X was not scared of the Nike lawsuit and the negative comments based on the shoe he released. This is quite interesting because you shouldn't listen to what others think and do it. Like I said before, it sold out within seconds!
I learn a lot from this article because, honestly, any Rapper or any person can do this. You have to need a big audience, and social media do its job. It's cray to say how he made about $667,988 with seconds, not only that, but the shoe itself selling for resale for more than $10,000$! Which is even crazy.
